    Product Description
A cold or hot whole grain cereal. Friend of the heart. Originally developed in the late 1800s by a Swiss nutritionist, Muesli is a delightful cereal made from a blend of whole grains, dried fruit, nuts and seeds. Bob's Red Mill is dedicated to providing a highly nutritious whole grain cereal that's very tasty, so we've combined whole grain rolled oats, wheat, rye, triticale and barley, along with sweet and chewy dates and raisins, sunflower seeds, almonds and walnuts for a high energy Muesli you're sure to love. Try our Old Country Style Muesli hot, cold or right out of the bag. Diets rich in whole grain foods and other plant foods low in total fat, saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease and some cancers. All natural.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect backpacking breakfast!   July 28, 2010

Use this and some sweetened condensed milk (with hot water) and you have yourself the tastiest and healthiest backpacking food

5 out of 5 stars So filling and healthy   July 7, 2010
    Amazon addict (Utah, US)
This mixed with lowfat plain yogurt & cinnamon is my mid afternoon snack everyday=sweet, crunchy, yummy tummy filler. I signed up for the automated delivery (extra 15% off) and the cost dropped down almost half of what I used to pay for it. Delivery was incredibly quick, 3 business days after I placed my order! Perfect blend of everything, and my kids love it too.

5 out of 5 stars Extremely high quality cereal that is versatile and economical!   July 2, 2010
    Read Rover (FL)
After continual disappointment with the varieties of granola and muesli available in our community I decided to give Bob's Red Mill Old Country Style Muesli, 18-Ounce Bags (Pack of 4) a shot. My husband and I are extremely delighted with this mix and have quickly gone through the four 18oz bags that came in or initial order. In fact, we just reordered it in the larger 40oz bags (Bob's Red Mill Old Country Style Muesli, 40-Ounce Bags (Pack of 4)) because the cost per ounce is a little less expensive.

It can be a little boring to eat the same thing over and over again each morning so mix it up by having small Ziplock baggies of various raw nuts and dried fruit available to add as a topping. In our house, walnuts and extra raisins are a big hit though we also enjoy adding fresh fruit or a dollop of preserves from time to time.

In the weeks that we have been eating this Muesli, both my husband and I have been amazed with how much more efficiently our bodies are digesting and eliminating waste. We not only feel better, but we are finding that we are looking better too. While keeping the old adage of "all things in moderation", we only eat a third cup of this cereal each morning mixed in with a half cup of fat-free vanilla yogurt and find that we rather miss it if we opt for something else!

5 out of 5 stars Better toasted   June 15, 2010
    SC McCarthy (Burlingame, CA)
Prefer it toasted (200 degrees for 30 minutes spread out on a rimmed cookie sheet, half a 40 oz bag at a time) rather than raw. Toasting brings out the nutty flavors (esp the sunflower seeds) and crisps up the grains, so when the muesli is added to boiling water (1 cup water to 1/2 cup muesli), then microwaved for a further 30 seconds, the texture is just right. I add a sprinkle of raisins to the boiling water so they are plump by the time the microwaving is done, and the raisins add a soft plump sweetness to the serving (the date bits in the mix are sweet but hard). Topped with sliced strawberries or other fruit, a few dry roasted nuts (for crunch and more flavor), and milk, and I have the core of a great breakfast. There are occasional tough fibers or hard seeds in the mix that seem to be inedible, but these probably comprise less than 1 pct of the mix, so they are tolerable in a cereal that has become my standard healthy and quick breakfast. The cost per serving compares favorably to Post Great Grains (date and pecan) (the PGG has better crunch), which I similarly appreciate but is usually more expensive.
